“ITE/ARIB HDTV Test Materials - Second Edition”

The materials are described in Report ITU-R BT.2245 “HDTV test materials for assessment of picture quality”, which is informatively referred to by Recommendation ITU R BT.1210 “Test materials to be used in assessment of picture quality.” The test materials were jointly produced by the Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers (ITE) and the Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB). NHK Engineering Services, Inc. distributes the test materials on ITE’s consignment.

| Features |

The test materials were produced with advice from video engineers at broadcasters and manufacturers and have the following features:

・ 1920 x 1080/60(59.94)/I (4:2:2 and 4:4:4) and 1920 x 1080/60(59.94)/P (4:2:2) uncompressed HDTV pictures in 10-bit/pixel conforming to Recommendation ITU-R BT.709 Part 2. (1080/50I and 1080/24P are also partly available.)
・There are two types of sequences: "attribute-general", which is similar to typical broadcast programme content including a wide variety of scenes such as night scenery, live music, drama, and sports, and "attribute-specific", which is for specific evaluations.

| Characteristics |

Table 1 summarizes the characteristics of the test materials. The materials are categorized into three series. Materials “A” are 1920x1080/59.94/I, 4:4:4, 10-bit format including four sequences at 50/I. Materials “B” are 1920 x 1080/59.94/P, 4:2:2, 10-bit format including four sequences at 24/P. Materials “C” are 1920 x 1080/59.94/I, 4:2:2, 10-bit down-sampled format from Materials “A”. The materials for each series contain two types of scenes in accordance with the purpose of usage for evaluation, i.e., “attribute-general” or “attribute-specific”. “Attribute-general” materials are similar to typical broadcast programme content, and “attribute-specific” materials are for specific evaluations.
